James Albert Murray, 68, of Hodges, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Thursday, March 2, 2017 at his home. He was born in Greenwood County on January 12, 1949 to the late Thomas Latimer and Isabelle Murray.
James is a graduate of Emma Maddox High School, Ware Shoals, South Carolina. He was a highly awarded automotive technician. He was also a life-time member of Dunn Creek Baptist Church.
James proudly served his county in the US Army from 1969-1971 and was a Vietnam veteran. During his tour of duty, he received a number of medals, including the Bronze Star.
James leaves to cherish fond and loving memories to his wife of 46 years, Nancy Hodges Murray and one son, Tanaka (Amber) Murray; grandchildren, Taraisa Murray, Tataiana Murray, Jacquann Hicks, Trinity Harrison, Jayden Murray and Brayden Murray; great-grand-children, Kylan Blount and Sylah Blount; brothers and sisters, Willie Lee Walker, Abraham Murray (Linda), Margaret McIntosh, Christina Robinson (Johnny), and Karen Moss (Charles). He is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and friends.
James was preceded in death by brothers, Leroy Murray and Posley Latimer; and sisters, Elizabeth Hodges and Mary Frazier.
