Mary L Buck

Mary Lee Henderson Buck was born in Donalds on September 19, 1930 and departed this life at George Washington Medical Center, Washington, DC, on March 3, 2019.

She was the only child of Andrew and Leola Calhoun Henderson.

Mary attended schools in Ware Shoals and grew up in Dunn Creek Baptist Church. She eventually went to Voorhees Junior College graduating with an Associate Degree in Home Economics, where she met William Ivory Buck Jr.

Mary and William were married in 1949 and settled in Washington DC, making it their home. From their union, they had one son Michael Ivory Buck.

Mary joined First Baptist Church in Washington, DC  in 1969 where she remained a faithful member until her death.

Mary pursued her passion for sewing, cooking and baking. She especially loved baking for her family and friends. She also enjoyed her trips to the casinos.

Mary retired from Bethesda National Naval Medical Center where she worked as a supervisor in the food service department for 25 years.

Mary Lee was preceded in death by her husband William, and her son Michael.

She is survived by Sister-in-law Dr. Barbara Buck, devoted Niece, Chinna Penamon (Paris), special cousins John Dean (Shirley), Lance Evans, Lucille Evans, John C. Calhoun, Jr., Tonya Allen (Jason) and a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will cherish her memory and will certainly miss her.
