Catherine L, Carter, 75 departed this life on Wednesday, October 19, 2022.
Born in Hodges South Carolina, Catherine was the eldest child of James W. Lomax, Sr, and Jessie L. Lomax. She graduated from Emma Maddox High School class of 1965 and Greenville Business College. She retired from the Department of Social Services after 41 years of service. She was also known as the customer service “Voice of K-mart”.
Catherine was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as an Usher, Advisor for YWCA’s and on the Hospitality Committee.
Catherine was preceded in death by her son Christopher Elliot Carter and one brother George Lee Lomax.
She leaves to cherish and honor her memories; her parents, James, and Jessie Lomax, of the home, one brother James Lomax Jr. (Martha Ann), six sisters, Jessie L. Tindal (Eric) Louise L. Garnett, Debbie Murphy (Mathew), all of Donalds, Lillie Livingston (Shellie), Irmo, Mary Lomax and Annette McCrorey (Thomas) of Columbia, South Carolina; a devoted friend James E. Tolbert and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Funeral service will be 11:00am Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 2550 Old Hodges Road, Abbeville, SC 29620.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30pm, Monday October 24, 2022 in the Wilbur Robinson Memorial Chapel of Robinson-Walker Funeral Service.
Burial will be at Oakbrook Memorial Park in Greenwood, South Carolina.
