Mrs. Dorothy Helen Walk-Edwards was born in Laurens County South Carolina on November 2, 1938. On Monday, November 5, 2018, she gave up the fight and went home to be with Lord.
Mrs. Edwards attended the public schools in Laurens, South Carolina. In her early years, she was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church, Laurens, South Carolina. Later in her life, she joined Little River Baptist Church, Ware Shoals, South Carolina. She served faithfully at Little River as an usher, missionary, Deaconess, as well as on the food service committee. Mrs. Edwards was one of the mothers of the church.
Her first husband, Lewis Walk, preceded her in death. She later married Jerome T. Edwards who also preceded her in death. Mrs. Edwards was also preceded in death by her father and mother, Condee and Marie Conwell Thompson; four brothers, James Thompson, Condee Thompson, Jr., Johnnie Thompson, and O.B. Thompson. Three sisters; Ada Thompson-Carpenter, Laler Thompson-Jenkins, and Magdaline Thompson-Calhoun and a stepdaughter, Maryland Dendy.
She will be remembered dearly, by those she loved, and by those who loved her so affectionately. Her stepdaughter, Celecia Edwards of Baltimore, Maryland; two stepsons, Jerome Edwards, Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland, Victor Lewis Dendy of Laurens, South Carolina; two step-grandsons, Jerome Edwards, III and Quintin Edwards both of Baltimore, Maryland, and one step-granddaughter, Tenikia Edwards of Baltimore, Maryland. She is also survived by three sisters; Geraldine Thompson-Madden and Delores Thompson-Todd both of Laurens, South Carolina, Ethel Mae Thompson-Holland of Greenville, South Carolina; a dear niece and caregiver, Phyllis Latimer, and a host of other relatives and friends.
