Jacob Mays, 73, of 114 Brush Road, Hodges, South Carolina, passed away, January 13, 2022 at his home.
Born in Greenwood County he was the son of the late Jacob and Bernice Robinson Mays.
Jacob graduated from the Emma Maddox High School. He was a excellent football player with the Emma Maddox High School team.
Jacob was employed at the WalMart DC 6014/7031 Laurens, SC for a number of years and later was employed with the Greenwood School District 50 as a Custodian.
Jacob was a faithful member of Good Hope Baptist Church in Hodges, South Carolina. He was also a mason and belonged Masonic Lodge# 302
Jacob was preceded in death by his parents Jacob Mays and Bernice Robinson Mays; his wife, Bessie Lee Mays; and one son, Monty Mays.
Jacob leaves to cherish his legacy, three sons, Patrick (Dana) Mays, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Tyrod Mays and Travis Mays, both of Hodges, South Carolina; two sisters, Brenda Williams, of Ware Shoals, South Carolina and Dorothy (James) Scott, Hodges, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Patrice Mays, Dejon (Nikki) Mays, Deja Mays, Tydrekius Mays, Latrice Mays, Destiny Mays, and Gabrielle Jones; six great grand children; a beloved aunt, Frances Anderson; sisters-in-law, Ida Mae (Guy) Ross and Elizabeth Walker; a faithful companion, Reverend Deloris Henderson; and a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly.
Funeral service for Mr. Jacob Mays will be held 1:30pm Sunday January 23, 2022 at the Little River Multicultural Center in Hodges, South Carolina.
Burial will be held at Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Greenwood, South Carolina following funeral service.
Public viewing will be held from 3-7pm Saturday January 22, 2022 at the Robinson Walker Funeral Service Wilbur Robinson Memorial Chapel in Ware Shoals, South Carolina.
