Newell James Howard Clardy

Newell James Howard Clardy, 71, of 100 Johnson Road, Abbeville, South Carolina, passed away, Thursday, May 19, 2022 at his home.

Born in Greenwood county, he was the son of James Clardy and Alice Barmore Clardy.

Newell was employed with Laser Construction Co. as an construction worker.

Newell leaves to cherish his legacy, his wife, Betty Jean Calhoun of the home; five sons, Ricky (April) Jackson, of Mississippi, Glen (A.J.) Jackson (Shirley), of Atlanta, GA, Tommy Jackson, of Greenwood, SC, Christopher Jackson, of Hodges, SC and Ryan (Shannon) Jackson, of Abbeville, SC; four daughters, Tamara (Joe Marshall) Sutton, of Abbeville, SC, Gloria Calhoun, of Abbeville, SC, Theresa Calhoun, of Greenwood, SC and Alicia Baker, of Abbeville, SC; one son-in-law, Victor Sutton, of Abbeville, SC; a grandson, Jermaine Calhoun that was raised in the home; twenty six grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly.

Newell was preceded in death by his parents, James and Alice Clardy; one son, Fred Jackson; one daughter, Dora Baker; two brothers, William Walter (Bill) Clardy and Delanar Moates and one sister, Daisy Carolyn Sanders.

The family will be located at 287 Long Cane Road, Abbeville, South Carolina to receive visitors and friends.  

Funeral Service for Mr. Clardy will be held 2pm Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Good Hope Baptist Church in Hodges, South Carolina.

Public viewing will be Monday, May 23, 2022 from 3-7 pm in the Wilbur Robinson Memorial Chapel of Robinson Walker Funeral Service.
