Robert Earl Robinson

Robert Earl Robinson “Bay”, 88, entered into heavenly rest on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the Hospice House of Greenwood, SC.

Born February 3, 1932 to the late Wister and Lela Robinson. Bay Graduated from Emma Maddox High School and served in the United States Army.

On January 7, 1956, Bay married the former Willie Ann Gambrell. They made their home in Ware Shoals and spent many years nurturing, encouraging, and helping make the community a better place.

Bay worked at Riegel Textiles for a number of years and in 1971, he integrated Ware Shoals Police Department. He later became Chief of Police and served the community in that capacity until his retirement in 1994. He also served on the Ware Shoals Town Council as well as a member of the Ware Shoals Welfare Committee and a volunteer firefighter and served as treasurer of the Ware Shoals VFW Chapter. Later in life, he was an associate of Robinson-Walker Funeral Services. He received numerous awards throughout his life for his community work including being honored during the 21^st Annual Church and Community Human Relations Award Ceremony.

Bay was a faithful member of Dunn Creek Baptist Church and was available to serve wherever needed (custodian, handyman, van driver, trustee). Family was real important to Bay and he was always there for his brothers, sister, nieces and nephews, as well as others to provide support, encouragement and love.

He leave to cherish his memories his wife of 64 years, Willie Ann Robinson, of the home; sister, Helen Robinson Curry, of Ware Shoals, sister in law, Kathy Robinson, of Reno, Nevada; special nephew, Kevin Johnson (Jean) of Ware Shoals, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members who will mourn, yet celebrate, his life and legacy.

Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Dunn Creek Baptist Church in Ware Shoals, SC.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body will be on view Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home from 12noon-8pm.
