Mrs. Ruth Quarles was born June 21, 1930, to the late O. K. and Maybell Smith in Ware Shoals, South Carolina. On Thursday, June 13, 2019, Ruth departed her life at Self Regional Healthcare.
Ruth was educated in the public schools and attended Emma Maddox School. She was a faithful member of Dunn Creek Baptist Church where she served as a choir member, missionary worker and a Deaconess. She retired from Parke Davis in Honea Path, SC.
Ruth was married to the late Furman (Bill) Quarles and to this union four children were born, and one son, Ernest Quarles, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Harold Smith, Leon Smith, Boosie Smith and Willie Smith; six sisters, Lucille Jackson, Nellie Wilson, Jeanette Anderson, Mammie Drake, Ruby Hill (twin sister) and Mildred Smith; one great-grandson, Jowacus Adams.
Ruth leaves to cherish many memories, two daughters, Judy Posley, of the home and Deloris (Dot) Adams, Donalds, SC; one son, Edward (Mattie) Quarles, Hodges, SC; six loving grandchildren, ten wonderful great-grandchildren and three beautiful great-great grandchildren. She has two sisters left to carry her legacy, Blanche Whyte, Detroit, MI and Lutitia Leverett, Ware Shoals, SC and one brother, Wilbert Smith, Detroit, MI and a she is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral Service for Ruth Quarles will be held 12 Noon, Thursday June 20, 2019 at the Dunn Creek Baptist Church.
Visitation will be 12:00pm-8:00pm, Wednesday June 19, 2019 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home.
